Meet the Artist

Meghan Jones, BFA, has been an artist her whole life, in 2023 a chance connection with some deep-sea scientists began an obsession with earth’s largest and most unseen habitat that has gripped her ever since. She is passionately committed to battling the ‘alien and bizarre’ deep-sea stereotypes perpetuated by the media. Through a potent mix of art and science she reveals the beauty and wonder of the deep-ocean via her modern impressionist paintings; all while attempting to satiate her unending creativity and drive.

It’s a rainy day in Spokane and I’m hatching some new plans! I need to get one more painting done for the @unseenoceancollective show coming up this summer at the @hatfieldmsc , and I am super excited about this composition of red tree corals and anemones. This one will be fairly large at 36x48” and I need to get started this week- so first step is a detailed drawing to guide the work. Once again I am embarking on a large painting in just about a month of time, and THIS TIME my kids will be off school- because it wasn’t enough of a challenge the last time 😆 stay tuned! #deepsea #deepseacreatures #deepseaart #scienceart #spokaneartist
